Thank you for taking the time to check me out! I'll tell you a bit about myself first. I am originally from nearby Cincinnati where I grew up in a
rural town. After high school I joined the active duty Army. I served the majority of my enlistment at Ft. Bragg, NC. It was around this time that I began to realize how important it was to me to spend quality time outside. So seeing as Uncle Sam wanted to pay for my college, Outdoor Education seemed like a good avenue for me. I had always considered being a teacher and I love the outdoors so why not have the best of both worlds! The Ohio State University was my educational institution of choice and it turned out to be a great one. I worked for 4 years at the campus
Outdoor Adventure Center honing my guiding skills. I also had the opportunity to work for
Thompson Island Outward Bound as an assistant instructor for sailing and backpacking expeditions. After graduating in June 2008 I moved to Boston to work for the
New England REI Outdoor School, a great program that really gave me the opportunity to teach a broad spectrum of outdoor skills .In November 2008 I began my position as the Gym Manager for
Rock Spot Climbing. After a brief hiatus from the outdoor education world, I returned to
Thompson Island Outward Bound to work as the course director and site manager for the
Passages program. In August 2009 I began working with
Outward Bounds At-Risk Youth Expeditions in Florida and Alabama.
